The formation of Recycled Rovers & Friends began in February 2005 by a small group of local citizens that recognized the overpopulation of stray animals in South Texas.

After rescuing a few strays from the city streets, they realized the need was critical to establish a facility where these animals could live in a caring and safe environment and no longer be classified as stray, lost or unwanted animals.

Today, this animal welfare safety refuge is known as Recycled Rovers & Friends, Inc. RRF is a Non-Profit 501 (c) 3 No Kill Animal Rescue Shelter, located at 302 El Dora Road.

The shelter has undergone many changes throughout the years and in January 2009 a new Board of Directors was elected. Under the guidance of the new Board, Recycled Rovers & Friends has improved its' facility and has housed as many as over 160 shelter residents.

Our goal is to safely recover as many homeless animals and to provide them with the long term care they will need in order to give them a second chance at life and love through our adoption and foster programs.

As a Petsmart Charities Adoption Partner, RRF has successfully placed hundreds of dogs and cats every year into permanent homes of their own. Many thanks to our sponsors and volunteers that dedicate so much of their time towards our rescue and adoption efforts, and for the shelter staff that have sacrificed endless hours of hard work to care for the hundreds of animals that come through our shelter every year.
