Success Stories

Cassandra Hollifield and Maggie

I saw Maggie for the first time at the pet store when I went there to buy a scratching post for my cat.

My mother was with me and ended up going over to look at the Recycled Rovers dogs for adoption before we checked out.

That's when she saw the cutest, sweetest, fuzziest little puppy, that when she picked it up it nuzzled her and kissed her all over.

So, my Mom brought the puppy over for me to meet and I fell in love with her instantly. Within 30 minutes I had a scratching post for my cat and a new puppy along with appointments for her next puppy shots and also an appointment to get her fixed at 6 months of age at a local vet.

Maggie was 8 weeks old and, although she was with her 7 brothers and sisters in the pen, she stood out because they all had short dark hair and Maggie had fuzzy blond hair with white markings. She was just irresistible.

We went out to the Recycled Rovers facility twice to get Maggie's puppy shots (she had already had her first set of puppy shots before we got her) and the people there were so nice and helpful and were really happy to see Maggie and see how happy she was and how much she had grown.

Ruben was so good with Maggie that she wasn't scared at all and didn't even flinch when she got her puppy shots.

Now Maggie is 9 months old and has grown into such a lovable companion. She loves everyone she meets and loves playing with other dogs at the newly opened McAllen Dog Park. And she enjoys it when I take her to see her friends at the Recycled Rovers adoption events. They always remember Maggie and make a big fuss over her.

I'm so happy that I went to the pet store that day to get a scratching post; otherwise I would have missed out on all the fun and enjoyment that Maggie has brought into my life.

Little did I know when I pulled into the parking lot that day that I would leave with a brand new puppy, but I'm sure glad that I did.
